Introduction to VSO
VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organisation that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. Our high-impact approach brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, promote international understanding and action to change lives and make the world a fairer place.
In Asia Pacific, VSO works in nine countries with partners across the region, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines and Papua New Guinea.
It’s an exciting time to join VSO!
The role
In this key role, you will provide methodological support and strategic insight to programme development in the Asia Pacific region. This involves working with the regional team, country directors and programme managers to support them in the adoption of VSO’s People First new programme framework.
It is important that you ensure our interventions are pro poor (anti poverty), address exclusions that result in poverty, are accountable and are based on the 3 elements of sustainable development (social, economic and environmental coherence).
Supporting reflective practice, you will promote participatory and evidence-based methodologies to support ongoing programme development work in country office and across the region, and within VSO as a whole.  You will be promoting and provoking critical dialogue between Asia & Pacific staff and volunteers about methodological approaches working with country offices to ensure information sharing and peer learning on development approaches.
The applicant
You are highly experienced in the development, implementation and management of development programmes.
You have significant hands on experience of working through participatory development methodologies as a practitioner and as a strategist, with skills in gender analysis, poverty analysis, stakeholder mapping and social exclusion analysis.
This role can be based in Thailand Cambodia, Nepal, or Bangladesh. Candidates need the right to work in one of these locations.  National terms and conditions will be offered.
