An Associate Production Manager (APM) will report to a Product Manager (PM) and work alongside the PM and rest of the production crew to successfully manage projects from discovery, to early implementation, to finish (ongoing maintenance and improvements). In the process, an APM will manage and may even own certain aspects of a production unit(s).
The goal of an APM is to first assist the PM in the execution of several projects. An APM candidate should naturally be a keep learner, and, is expected to, over time grow in the role and handle (or own)
Business Acumen
Understand the client’s business, the use case of their particular business request, and assist the PM in designing a solution to match the client’s needs
Work with the PM to map out the scope of the project, develop project timeline and set important milestones
Ability to communicate clearly, and effectively both verbally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders
Creative Solution Development and Technical Acumen
Understand how to relate the business objectives of a project into a workflow implementation
Propose ways to decompose a complex business process into a sequence of micro-task to accomplish the same
Work with the PM, and the other production members to effectively deliver on the project goals
Design mock-up wireframes, workflow diagrams
Construct business rules for the project based on communication with the client, internal stakeholders
Manage worker reputation management systems to maintain proper accuracy
Financial Management
Understanding of financial projections - ability to translate production data into future projections
Identify opportunities to optimize aspects of the production that can result in increased revenue and/or decreased cost
Determine and manage worker payout in the system. Track project specific costs
Prepare monthly invoice to clients based on contractual agreement per client
Internal Coordination & Leadership
Proactively monitor project’s throughput to ensure throughput is on level with what’s required
Prepare training materials to ramp up workers on the project
Be vigilant about the accuracy output of a project - assist the PM in designing ways to improve accuracy
Understanding of the distributed workforce model, and micro-tasking model CF employs.
Coordinate with the engineering team on the scope of the project.
People Leadership
Ability to manage a small team of 1-2 people, delegate responsibilities to the supporting staff
Understanding of the people’s dynamics - identify and reward high performers, assist and motivate peers needing help and support, and escalate critical issues to the PM
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s in business management, technology management or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE: 1 year in business process or technical project management
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Technical background will be helpful but not required. Learning attitude is a must.
