VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT RTI International, the International Education Division is currently accepting applications for a Regional Accountant/Administrative Specialist (four positions) to support the Early Grade Reading Program (EGRP), a USAID-funded five-year program to improve early grade reading in Nepal. This is a full-time positions. The 5-year program will work closely with and support the Government of Nepal’s design and initial implementation of a national education model that standardizes early grade reading in public schools. These Positions are based in four districts namely Pokhara (Kaski), Nepalgunj (Banke), Dhangadhi (Kailali) and Itahari (Morang) with expected travel to othertarget districts across Nepal. The Regional Accountant/Administrative Specialist will serve a dual role and will manage general office and accounting activities to ensure smooth, efficient, and effective operations of the regional offices. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Accounting: Ensures the smooth, efficient and accurate accounting operations of the office so that the project activities can be financed efficiently and timely fashion to maximize the impact of the project. Maintain project accounts using QuickBooks according to the RTI regulations. Keep track of expenses and other financial transactions, mainly involving expense entry, tracking, and record keeping. Review expenses and financial transactions to ensure it is compliance with RTI procedures and terms of the agreement. Prepare invoices, write checks for payment. Prepare and submit monthly bank reconciliations. Estimates monthly cash needs and prepares the request and submit to EGRP Kathmandu office for wire transfers from RTI headquarters. Maintain petty cash account. Coordinates with District Coordinator to compile project financial reports. Identifies potential accounting discrepancies and works with the Finance Director to effectively research, track and resolve these issues. Operations: Assist in setting up the office space and liaise with property management to ensure rehabilitations are completed according to lease. Maintain inventory tracking system and do periodic reviews to ensure compliance with RTI procedures and terms of the agreement. Perform general administrative duties, including organizing and maintaining office files and records, photocopies, making arrangements, and operating office equipment. Coordinate internal and external meetings. This may include booking rooms, ordering refreshments, coordinating schedules and meeting invites, preparing agendas, and taking meeting minutes. Coordinate and track project-related travel and accommodations (domestic). Manage vehicle log book. Typing/editing project related documents. Perform other tasks as assigned by his/her supervisors. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance with 3 year of experience in Finance/ Accounting and Administration in International Non-Government Organization. Understanding of USAID contract policies and regulations are an added advantage Strong financial management, organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a team-oriented setting are necessary Strong knowledge and practical experience in electronic bookkeeping. Experience working with QuickBooks Pro accounting software will be desirable. Must be detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines. Ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism. Proficient in both written and spoken English and Nepali, proficiency in local language and dialect will be added advantage.
