Protection Officer
Place of assignment: Gorkha district
Reporting to: Protection Manager

People in Need (PIN) is an international non – governmental organization with headquarters in Prague, the Czech Republic. In its 20 years of history, PIN was working in over 40 countries in relief, development and human rights and democracy support projects. After the earthquake in Nepal in April 2015, PIN joined the emergency response to support the most affected communities in Nepal.
Protection Officer coordinates protection activities in displacement sites in the targeted areas. S/he conducts needs assessment, coordinates safety trainings, facilitates committee formation, communicates with site management, coordinates with other stakeholders present on site.
Yourresponsibilities:
o     Facilitate formation of safety committees in displacement sites
o     Support the committee in developing SGBV referral mechanism, committees’ capacity building
o     Monitor the committees’ mechanisms functionality and availability to the site residents
o     Monitor the safety and security situation at sites
o     Support committee in adequately addressing and mitigating the risks
o     Monitor security projects implemented by the committees
o     Compile field level reports
o     Communicate regularly with Line Manager
o     Coordinate with other committees and agencies working on sites

Your profile:
o     Bachelors degree, or secondary education with at least 2 years of relevant work experience
o     Work experience in rural and remote areas
o     Experience working in SGBV prevention / response, child protection, or women empowerment
o     Outstanding communication skills
o     Empathy and stress resilience
o     Fluency in written and spoken English
o     Sound knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
o     Experience with data collection preferred
o     Additional language proficiency (e.g. Gurung) preferred
