Purpose of the Position
Under the overall guidance of the Representative/Deputy Representative, accountable for the development, design, planning, implementation and management of the Multi-sector Nutrition project/programme within the country programme; accountable for ensuring that all aspects of the Multi-sector Nutrition project/programme promote gender and social equality, with an emphasis on gender/ethnicity/caste disaggregation and gender/ethnicity/caste inequalities to guide policies, programmes, monitoring and evaluation.
As head of section, direct, lead and manage a group of professional and support staff to develop, manage and administer the sector or inter-sector project/programme, with a view to mainstreaming the Multi-sector Nutrition Plan across all aspects of the country programme, at the national and sub-national level, particularly targeting the most disadvantaged or deprived districts, with a special focus on the first 1,000 days of life, and the ultimate aim to reduce the existing wide gender and social inequities.

Key Expected Results
- Timely analysis, input and guidance provided for the Nutrition Situation Analysis, and its periodic update, completed for effective multi-sector nutrition project planning, development and management.
- Technical leadership and coordination provided to key Multi-sector Nutrition programme/project documents, reports, plan of action, and targeted training/learning programmes, ensuring promotion of effective knowledge management.
- Quality of rights-based, gender- and inclusion-sensitive Multi-sector Nutrition projects /programmes effectively promoted, and coherence, synergy and value added to project management process through results-based management.
- Multi-sector nutrition work plan and activities formulated, implemented and monitored, with consistent integrations of sex- and ethnicity/caste-disaggregated data, highlighting those that address gender and social inequalities, ensuring alignment with the defined project strategies and approaches.
- Project delivery, evaluation and reporting carried out efficiently, rigorously and transparently in compliance with the established guidelines and procedures.
- UNICEF`s global goals effectively promoted through advocacy and policy dialogue, in line with the UNICEF-EU support to the national Multi-sector Nutrition Plan (2013-2017).
- UNICEF and Government accountability ensured regarding supply and non-supply assistance, as well as disbursement of programme funds in support of the Multi-sector Nutrition Plan decentralized implementation in the priority districts.
- Effective communication and networking achieved through partnership and collaboration that builds shared understanding and use of strategies to address gender and social inequalities, involving all the key sectors and partners involved in the Multi-sector Nutrition Plan implementation.
- Advanced university degree in the combination of the selective disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Nutrition, Nutrition and Food Science, Public Nutrition and Food Policy and Management, International Nutrition Development, Social Sciences, Public Health Nutrition, Family and Community Health & Nutrition, Nutritional Epidemiology, Nutrition and Food Education, Nutrition and Food Promotion, Nutrition Management of Infections and Disease Prevention, Public Nutrition Preparedness, Nutrition Emergency Preparedness and response, or other relevant discipline(s).
- Ten years of relevant professional work experience. Developing country work experience and field work experience. Background/familiarity with Emergency.
- Training in gender and multi-sector nutrition programmes that promote gender and social equality an asset.
- Fluency in English and another UN language. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station would be an asset.
- Has highest-level communication skills, including engaging and informative formal public speaking.
