Communications Manager

Plan is an international, child centred community development without political or religious affiliation. Plan works with children, sponsors, communities, partners, donors and governments in 70 countries around the world. Plan has been working in Nepal since 1978. Plan Nepal is seeking to recruit a competent, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic candidate for the position below:
1. Communication Manager based at Country Office, Lalitpur: 1Position
This position has a direct line reporting to Country Director, Country Office, Lalitpur
Key responsibilities:
  • Lead in developing strategy, action plan and guidelines to support global communications, media strategy and policy
  • Provide strategic support to programme team for consistent branding and profiling of Plan Nepal’s programmes including effective use of social media
  • Utilize and strengthen media relations at all levels (regional, national and district) to increase Plan Nepal’s visibility and credibility
  • Ensure information and communication materials remain accurate and up to date
  • Document and disseminate Plan Nepal’s key development message and successes to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage communication during emergencies in addition to undertaking other corporate responsibilities
Required qualifications & experiences:
  • Masters Degree in mass communication, journalism or relevant field
  • Minimum 7 years of  experience in communication/media relations/journalism preferably in the development sector (I/NGO experience a plus)
  • Proven experience in coordination, liaison and networking managing team, finance and other critical management domains
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in InDesign and Photoshop
  • English and Nepali language competencies both verbal and written along with professional report writing and excellent presentation skills
