With the financial support from the European Union through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu is implementing the project “Empowering people to enjoy their right to information for greater accountability of Nepal’s power holders” (EIDHR/2012/292-704) in close cooperation with the Government of Nepal and the Citizen’s Campaign for Right to Information (CCRI) and the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).
In order to coordinate the implementation of the project, the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu seeks applications from qualified Nepali candidates for the following position:

General Requirements:
Minimum qualifications required
  • Level and field of study of university or equivalent education and training:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in communication or information management.

Number of years and type of practical experience required
  • 3-5 years of experience working in the area of communication, media development and or human rights, preferably with a UN agency, INGO or a Nepali Government entity;
  • 2 years of experience in project planning and management;
  • Good understanding of international development cooperation, particularly in the area of human rights and media development.

Competencies (required knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes and behaviors)
  • Excellent knowledge of the media and human rights situation in Nepal;
  • Good knowledge of issues related to the right to information;
  • Good knowledge on UNESCO’s action in communication and Information;
  • Excellent project planning, management  and evaluation skills;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Good ability to work in an international and multicultural environment;
  • Strong team orientation;
  • Good skills in the use of office and Internet applications;

Languages
  • Excellent Nepali and English (Understanding, reading, speaking and drafting)

The District Project Manager (DPM) will be responsible to implement and provide technical support to project staffs and ensure quality implementation of project. JSI Research & Training Insitute, Inc is seeking applications for the following position for the Chlorexidine Navi Care Program (CNC Program), a three year project. Chlorhexidine Navi Care Program is supporting the Government of Nepal's (GoN) intention to reduce neonatal mortality. CNCP is supporting to implement Chlorhexidine (CHX) cord care program in the different districts of Nepal. JSI/CNCP has announced vacancy for the post of field officer based on program district. She/he will work closely with DPHO team to implement program in the district. She/he will have at least bachelor in Public health or bachelor in nursing.

Following are the roles and responsibilities of the field officer (field based position)
• To coordinate with DPHO to implement program in the district
• Help DPHO to develop CHX and Community Based Neonatal Care Program(CB-NCP) work plan and implement in the district
• Help DPHO to conduct CHX/CBNCP related orientation and training at different level (district to community)
• Coordinate with DPHO to ensure CHX/CBNCP related supplies (CHX medicine, Training and IEC materials) on time and sufficient quantity at all level.
• Conduct technical support visit to health workers and Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs).
• Prepare field trip report and submit with the given format.
• Prepare progress report and submit to CNCP and DPHO as per need.
• Participate in CHX/CBNCP related program in the district and centre as per need.
• Help DPHO to conduct review meeting and provide technical update to filed staffs.
• Provide on site coaching to health worker and FCHVs during field visit.
• Coordinate with other related partners at district to have effective program.

Academic Qualification

Mercy Corps invites proposals from consultants/firms for designing financial literacy training curriculum, training manual and course materials and delivering two sessions of TOT under a financial literacy project’- funded by the Western Union Foundation. The project targets women SACCO (Saving and Credit Cooperatives) members of recently formed and registered SACCOs in Bhojpur and Tehrathum districts with potential for replication in other parts of Nepal. In order to enhance and strengthen the money-management skills, knowledge and attitudes of women members of rural SACCOs, Mercy Corps intends to train members of SACCOs to sensitize them and make them able to make informed decisions related to money management and best use of available financial services. This is a short-term assignment for a period of approximately 60 days.
